Comet Falls

Just a quick post with some of my favorite pictures from our hike to Comet Falls with our friends, Rich and Sue.

This was our first time back at Mt Rainier Nat'l Park since the flooding in November. The park was closed for 6 months. It was amazing to see all the damage.....hundreds of fallen trees, evidence of landslides, and massive rocks that had eroded from the hillside, and had been pushed through the forest. We even passed over a few bridges that overlooked nothing but dry riverbeds.....they once contained streams and little rivers, but they changed course as a result of the flood. We would eventually come across the stream several hundred feet later. So much damage, yet still such a beautiful park.

We hiked to Comet falls (the largest falls in the Park - 300 ft) and then continued up another mile to Van Trump Park. It had a great view, but man, what a climb!!!! It was about 6 miles roundtrip, with an elevation climb of 2800 feet....wowza :)

Bambi made a visit to our friend's cabin right when we were getting ready to head out. It was quite the farwell!
